September UK North West Meet - Success

    Hey gang.

So after failing to put a meet together for the UK 'list, and the new density of Hawk/Bros' in the area (heh, I know of four of us in a 50 mile radius), I thought I should redeem myself (somewhat) and organise a get together.

    First off: Where?
I know Swipe is in Stoke, Foghorn is in Northwhich, another Brosser in St Helens, and there's me in Chester. If we just want to meet up, Foghorn looks to be the most central to me. If we want to meet and ride, my preference is towards North Wales, it's relatively nearby for the four of us, and I like the roads there. I'd have to run it by the wife, but we could fit a few people on spare bed/air bed/couch to stage a ride from as I am nearest. If you don't want to cross the border, Wildboarclough is a good ride too. Any other suggestions are welcome.

    Second: When?
Personally I'm busy most weekends at the minute. I think my free weekends are September 15-16 and then October 6-7. Most weeks I'm free during the day or evening Weds - Fri. But don't let me being busy stop you from meeting the rest of us.

Alternatively, or possibly in addition to this meet, I'm hoping to make it to the NEC show this year. Anyone else going?

Last but not least: Who's in?
If you're not from the region but want to meet, we might even make an allowance for you to join us Heck, I'm not from the area, I just live here

I don't think he's active on here. Either he lurks/seems to keep a low profile or isn't on the forum, so I'll let him announce himself if he wants to.

I can prolly do the October one - just to bring a bit of class to the proceedings, like.

Middle of September sounds good to me, A49 to Whitchurch then head over Llangolen way to the horse shoe pass is a great run (we can stop for tea and crumpets at the cafe on top of the pass ). Macclesfield to Buxton and over the Cat and Fiddle is a cracking road too. Would need to be early in the day for that one though, too many nutters otherwise.

I'll warn you now though I'm riding like a Jessy at the moment, been 8 years out of the saddle and all this rain isn't helping .

You guys crack me up! wish we had cool placenames over here on this side of the pond! when the pioneers from the old country named everything they seem to have stuck with the more classic town names.

Hah, glad someone else feels like I do when I go to popular riding areas which is avoid the "nutters" times (i.e. not within 2 hours of the crack of dawn) for riding.

To add insult to possible injuries my favorite technical spot of mine to ride is not only chock full of riders but young inexperienced marine (huge marine base within 15 miles) riders with high powered sport bikes.

The video below is of the prime San Diego motorcycle playground "Palomar Mountain" for those that like the twisties.

Just watching this gives me the willies, see how many times these guys are hanging / riding over the yellow lines?

                              Right,

so I've got one vote for a meet in September where we ride, and one vote for a meet in October. Swipe what's your preference for when and what and where, you could swing it! Or we could do both...

Oh, and I'm tentatively going for a ride one day next week with the mystery Brosser from St Helens. I've been in touch and he says he lurks on here... Anyone free next week? We're planning on watching the weather after Tuesday and going when the goin's good.
