  • aluminium hawk tank

so as some of you may know i have been working on making an over size composite fuel tank, after getting the first one out of the mould i was a bit dissatisfied and worried about how it would stand up in a crash. i have decided to have the tank made in aluminium it will be internally baffled and externally vented and will come complete with an aircraft style filler cap and a pingle petcock i,m having two made right away so one will be available soon if more people want them we will make more and i would also consider a group buy ! i will be asking $1500 American for these tanks and will post pics of them being made when we start july 1st! we are also looking at offering a stepped stainless exhaust system ill keep you all informed as its happening

    Nice offering.

What's the capacity? Shaped like a stock tank?

You can increase the tank safety with filler materials that prevent fuel from burning or exploits... There are a lot of tank foams and i was very impressed from Explostop a product that Bottpower uses in his Morlaco prototype with a pyrotec fuel cell

I'll get back to my tank ideas.......I could always use one of the plugs as an aluminum form.

Thread cleaned up. Back on topic.

Luis, that's cool info, going to look at it for a non-motorcycle project I've got sloshing around in my head.

behindthetimes I'm dying to see what you come up with!

andyman64 can't wait to see pics of the fabrication.

I've spent most of my money on women, beer, cars and motorcycles. The rest of it I just wasted.

I'm real tempted to see if one could hydroform a tank. Bottom piece probably easy. Top still a bit tricky. And probably still looking at $1k a tank at least.
