How often do you clean/wash your helmet?

Just wondering how often everyone washes the insides or pads of their helmet? I realized that after almost 3 years of daily wear mine was starting to get a but musky so I gave it a bath in the sink with light dish soap per Shoei.

my helmet gets daily use and i sweat pretty easy in the summer
it never gets to bad. the only removable pads are for my cheaks and the top is what needs washing the most i found that kinda stupid about the helmet, ooo and its loud.

i got one of those icon helmets (mat finish with the cool graphics)
when the time comes im not getting another one (my 5 yo shoie was not even close to being that loud)

I wear a bandana under my lid, so in 2+ years (seasonal use, I live in the northeast) it's never smelled bad.

The bandanas do, at the end of the day... 'specially in August...

I usually wear a du-rag, it helps keep the liner of the helmet clean. plus My helmet is only about 1000 miles old, so it doesn't really have a whole lotta smell to it

Huh, wow. do I feel dirty. My helmets about 10 years old. I don't think the inside has ever been washed.

You're supposed to replace helmets every 3-5 years... the styrofoam breaks down.

I know, I know... Its on the list of things to get before the snow melts. Just gotta put in more over time so I can get all my parts plus the helmet.

I'm getting a Z1R "Strike"- either that or their modular model. Only $80, and I get the helmet with the highest rating in the infamous Motorcyclist test...

Don't do it, those helmets are not "cool".

Huh? I don't think they're ugly, they look like any other helmet. I want solid black anyway.

Or do you mean the modular lid? Yeah, they're geeky. I like them anyway - especially since I wear glasses.
