from other forums i have been on they are normally private and "ladies only". might motivate conversation if they knew that the only lurckers there are other females

Can you make it private? Otherwise why have it unless the ladies request it?
They can write FTG (for the girls) or something in a subject line if guys are not needed.

if it was me, id just drop the forum.
just my personal opinion, but i HATE forums that have a billion micro topics that split the small number of posts they do get, into one or two posts in an area.
this isnt a large forum.. we dont have 1000 posts a day that make it hard to read thru... i wouldnt keep splitting things up and adding forums... just my opinion though.
