    handlebar switch color.

mmk, well.. my handlebar switches are gray.
i still cant quite figure out if its all sunfade gray, or if it was gray from the factory.... in anycase, i hate it.

i paid for some RC51 switches (to go with the RC51 everythign else...) but the douche that i bought them from sent me crappy cracked ones that i cant use.

im trying to decide what to do now.. what i really want are new looking shiny black switches, with white lettering and a bright red kill switch... you know, new looking.

are the stock hawk ones gray? if so, are the Bros/whatever ones black? any cross overs that directly work?

im to the point that im almost ready to just paint the switches black(and the kill red), and leave them with no lettering

funny you mention this, i was looking at the last set of pictures you posted and noticed the faded switch housing. pretty sure they all came glossy black. you might be best off just taking a can of paint to it and take your time looking for a new one. im not sure what mine are might be f2 or stockers never looked into replacing them.

My stock Hawk switch housings are faded grey as well. I think its caused by UV. Paint looks like a good (inexpensive) option. Are these switch housings a generic Honda item? (without the wiring attached)

They are indeed faded. I bought some standard hawk ones off ebay- one was slightly faded, the other like new. The housings are exactly the same, but guess what, the wiring is all different! So- out comes the little jewlers screwdrivers, etc and I transferred over the wiring. Cheap(er) fix than the price for new, if not a bit tedious. I'm sure uv has something to do with it- but I've been told that armour-all causes it too!

Yeah. I have the same deal. I have not seen many switches on ebay. I think the guys parting them out do the levers and bars and skip the switches for some reason. I might try emailing some of the guys who are parting out other stuff to see if they have any. I didn't know that some were wired different though. As a reference, here is an example of a bike that has basically lived outside its entire life ( mine ).

Here is what I think is a decent one, that I bought from bill-ns with some other stuff. Thanks bill. He may still have the right switches, but not sure. I didn't realize for a while that there were labels ( hi / lo ... ) on them. I think brand new ones were actually black.

That was odd... "hey that's my work bench!" lol

Sorry... no switches... I ended up using the guts in the CBR housings that are now on the bike.

                      repaire the old ones

I have heard of a few methods of bring them back to new, the most successful I would say is the heat gun treatment I have a spare set parts bike that I will try it with.

In my post above I should have made it clearer that I bought switches from a honda hawk- not the hawk gt. If you look at other hondas you will see that many models use the same switches. But they do have different wiring so you would need to switch that over if you go that route. Or just shell out the $150 for a new set (ouch )

I've seen a heat gun work pretty well on bringing back the color of Jeep fender flares... I can see that working well for the switch housings too.
