The 2007 East Coast Hawk Rally will be June 1-3 (Friday-Sunday) at The
Natural Bridge Hotel, VA.

--Phone number for the hotel: 1-800-533-1410
--*Starting next Tuesday (Feb. 6)* you will be able to make room
reservations (more below) under "Honda Hawk Riders."
I've decided to stay with this location due to its proximity to good
riding, and to I-81. The hotel is very easy to find. The historic town
of Lexington is approximately 10 miles up the road, and there's tons to
do and see in the area (swimming/fishing in Goshen Pass, soaking in the
springs of Warm Springs, etc.) if anyone wants to do something other
than ride.
I have reserved a block of "cottage" rooms for this weekend. The rates
are $69./night, and the cottage rooms (there are 4-6 rooms per cottage)
each have two double beds and their own bathroom (they're not as rustic
as the word "cottage" makes them sound). Instead of disappearing to our
individual rooms as in years past, we'll be able to hang out on the
grassy area outside the cottage buildings, and I have been told that we
can even have a cookout (I'm planning on one for Friday night). You can
also pull your bikes/vehicles right up to the cottages. And as in years
past, I am planning on a Saturday night dinner (prime rib buffet) in
their main dining room. Note: The folks at the hotel will not be able
to take your reservation until next Tuesday or Wednesday (it sounds like
they're "low-tech" and need time to get our reservation block into their
system). I will follow up with them on Tuesday, and will post a
reminder here at that time.
Let me know if you are planning to attend so that I can keep tabs on how
many rooms we are taking up (and to quickly reserve more if it looks
like we'll need to do so).
About a month ago I had reserved a block of rooms for the weekend of
June 8-10, but there was some confusion at the hotel (long story) and
these rooms wound up being given away. I'm sorry if anyone has had
difficulty planning because of this confusion. The good news is that we
now have rally-friendly rooms locked in for this weekend, and if it
looks like we'll be needing more we have time to arrange that, too.
If you've never been to a Hawk Rally but are wondering why everyone
always raves about what a good time they have, then you should seriously
consider attending one of the rallies this year. The List is about the
people, not the bikes. New folks are always welcome. You don't even
need to own a Hawk to attend, you just need to be tapped in to what this
List is about.
Looking forward to seeing you at Natural Bridge.
