    Engine Paint?

Before I got my hawk, it appears that something leaked on the engine (probably fuel) and ate the nice gray coating off the cylinder head and other misc parts. Does anybody have any recommendations for engine coatings? I know powder coating would be best, but I am hoping to find something slightly less invasive and expensive.
    Any suggestions?
Matching color isn't really important. I just want it to look smooth again.

I've only done my valve covers. But I just got "engine enamel" off the shelf at Wally World.

      Don't spill any gas-o-leen, then!

      Paint works, IIRC. Powdercoat, too.

Engine enamel paint is available at most automotive stores. As with all painting projects, surface prep is the most critical.
I had my engine out and rebuilt it three years ago, and painted it at the time. I used metallic charcoal grey and afterwards filed the 'fins' on the cylinders back down to bare aluminum. -Turned out pretty good.
