    MPG?

so the main reason i vbought a motorcycle is that I'm kinda a green guy and I wanted to get good gas mileage without spending a grip ona hybrid or anything.

I average around 54 MPG on a bike with stock setup and 27k miles on it. I knwo It need a tune up and that will probably help me out a bit. Anyways you gusy can think of to increase MPG without sacrificing power?

and what are you all getting on your hawks?

I get about 50-55 mpg on my stock engine. Oddly enough, it seems to consume pretty much the same no matter how I ride it too. Not sure if anyone else finds this too.

a good exhaust will give better MPG and improve power... (then again, if you're going WOT using that new power all the time, it will effect the MPG)

i really dont keep track of MPG on my bike.. its in the 50s or so.. really its so good that i dont really care. lol.

~$12 in gas gets me around only on the bike all week... compare that to ~$50 for the truck or ~$40 for the camaro...

I ride pretty gently and mostly commuting at 50-60 mph and I get 61-63 mpg.

54's pretty good. when mine was a streetbike i'd get about 50mpg when commuting/etc and about 45 during more 'spirited' rides. i doubt you'll be able to do much better than you already are.

I was surprised to get 65mpg out of mine last year when I rode it to Frankfurt. But imperial gallons are bigger than US ones I believe.

I'm getting 50 to 55 with a fair amount of wot. I sure wish the range of the tank was greater! I hit reserve around 118 miles... and if I don't switch before it actually gets there the bike will not continue running through the switchover to reserve. Anyone else experience this?

That is the real downside to the hawk/bros. I'm really paranoid of getting caught short so I won't ride past 160kms without filling up the tank. It becomes a real annoyance having to fill up almost everyday you take the bike out and even worse when you have to fill up twice in one day. Does anyone know why the designer opted for such a small tank?

Race bikes don't need huge tanks! (except for Miguel DuHamel at Daytona! )

because they needed room for the airbox, and the designer (THANKFULLY) opted to NOT make the tank kickout..

look how thin and sexy the bike is.. then look how fat and piggish 99% of all other sporty bikes look because the gas tank is so fat..

I would not have minded something a little inbetween, like maybe 4 gallons at least. Even 3 1/2 would give you almost 200 miles between fill ups. I agree though I like how slim the bike is and wouldn't want a 5 or 6 gallon tank on there.

what i would really like to do is lower the bottom of the tank... since i dont have a stock airbox anymore (im running pod filters).. that would almost fit another gallon

however.. on the flipside, i dont want to do that if they hurt airflow to the carbs/filters....

Never bothered to do the math, but since the F2 tank went on, I'm getting 260-270 kms before reserve with a lot of WOT, and have seen 290 from a tank but must have been close to fumes by that point. Steady highway crusing (100km/hr) I'm getting close to 280 before kicking over to reserve
All this time and I've never bothered to note how much the tank will hold in liters from bone dry/reserve..
