Hey Everyone, I've been looking for a Hawk for a long time since my college roomate had one. I've finally found one a couple towns away, and was hoping that everyone here could give me some insight on the price. It's a '89, with 23000 miles on it. Pretty good cosmetic shape, no noticeable rusting, pitting, or cracking in the plastics. The biggest issue cosmetically with the bike, is a dent in the left hand side of the gas tank (about the size of a lemon), and a 1 inch tear in the seat. Included with the bike are the original owners manual, the original tool kit, an old rear shock (it's been replaced once), a fairing, and a box of service records (not sure how far back they go). is $1950 a fair price for this bike? Most of my exp. has been in classic cars, so I'm feeling a little out of place with bike prices. Thanks for any insight you guys can offer.

If the replacement shock is anything better than a stock one, than at that price as long as its got a strong motor its a good buy. Cosmetics can be fixed for the most part, strong motor and any aftermarket parts are the real factors that sway me from good to great deals.
If you can do a comp and leak down test, than as long as it passes, buy it before someone else does....Mike/Kilter

You can recover the seat for cheap...I just did mine and it probably cost $15 for the cloth and a couple of dollars for new foam. You could get someone to do it for $50-60 if not.
You may want to check and see if there was any damage from a wreck on the dented side.
Like it's been said....as long as it drives good...buy it!1988 Hawk
