    900rr shock

    hope this works.. lol

yes, i know i want a penske shock too.. i just dont have the cash for it at the moment... and my current shock is probably pretty worn.... so its not like anyone can argue that this will be less of a dampener then my current shock...

if nothing else, i get the extra rear height that i desperately need..... besides... it was worth it for the price.

For $22.26 shipped you did just fine. It will work. If you like to tinker change the oil to 5wt and it will work better.

Like you I have one of these sitting down stairs....threw it on with out the spring mod...way too soft...dampening was better but this shock is a 96' or newer and does not increase the ride height. You need the 95' or older to get the increase

yea, i wasnt too sure about the year... if its not longer, then i'll just offset mill the hole instead of drilling it straight thru.. that should give me a little more.

just for future ref.... how can you tell by just looking at that pic??

I think the PRE 96 shocks had a shorter nitrogen hose that attached to the tank strait on and not at a 90 deg. like yours and have a black preload adjuster if my memory serves me correctly.

Ya the hose is longer but from what I have seen. ( most pictures on the net ) the 96 and newer has a red spring and the 95' and older comes with a yellow spring

The offset hole should work ....I had to shave off the sides of the shock head to fit the upper frame mount.

Of course I thought I had the right shock too so I drilled it center
I paid a lot more than you did and had the spring removed and lost a retaining part...so it sits

That was before I found the hawklist and this forum.

                thanks for the info guys.

you have no idea how much i searched to find out the year that shock was.. and came up with nothing..

i asked the guy before i bid to measure it... eye to eye... his reply... "about 12 inches"... uhh.. thanks.

hopefully i can talk my friend into sneeking me into his work this weekend.. id like to use the mill myself... i hate handing work out to other people when i can do it myself...
