    Hawk vs Ducati?

    Anyone have any input here?

How does the Hawk compare to the S2r or the S4r?

    Anyone out there ride both?

    Why not have both?

The monster hawk is always a nice mod.

Hawks are cheaper more reliable cost less to work on and are not nearly as fast. It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

ARRH Don't mind me, that's just the scurvy talkin!

up to a point, that's true

racing hawks against hawks that point is on. putting a (52hp) hawk out for a trackday with a 150hp gsxr, gets a bit tiring - especially when you can corner bettter than the rider of the gsxr and are then stuck behind him.

i'd be curious to see what more horsies would be like via a 748.

Rode with my buddy who had a 600 monster dark, in the mountains for a fun ride so not exactly performance gaging conditions but I was glued to his tail when he was on point. His other Duc, an S2R had a bit more in the throttle dept.

As for passing GSXR's, well I got too aggressive doing that at a track day and got two broken fingers but still, I did pass a slick race bike several times

            hum i like this subject

my hawk back in the day and my buddies monster 750
we where about equal when it came to riding skill level and the monster 750 is very close to the hawk, if anything its alittle faster in both exeleration and top speed but not by much. out of all the bikes i have riden i would say the older 750 monster is the closest to the hawk more so than the rc51 (i never test drove an sv though)
he was my faveret person to go riding with because we where so equally matched.

i met up with him during my visit last week and now this is what we ride

his is the yellow one and his friend just got the red one.
i got a chance to test ride the yellow one
and i must say it was diceptive how smooth the power is. with the monster, hawk, and rc you feel the tourque. with the 748 its very smooth.
after riding all 4 bikes they all have there own character but i must say i like the hawk and the 750 monster more than the rc and the 748. but the 748 is a sweet bike to watch in action due to the styling. and we drag raced from light to light just a little bit and the 748 can keep up with the rc for sure. has for the power band the hawk and the 750 monster are very close, and the 748 and the rc are close to one another. both ducs have a very comfortable riding position.

now comparing the 748 to the 750 monster, im not sure but they might have the same motor and act totaly different from one another

and my buddies opinion is that he likes the 750 monster has a more practical bike vs the 748 and would prefer the 748 over the rc any day.

you own any 4 bikes your going to have some fun. and turn some heads wile your at it.

            theres my two cents

More power would be great, better shocks would be great...

                      its one i made....

take a GSXR radiator, cut it shorter, flip it upside down, weld the brackets and endtanks, and its a perfect bolton fit.

The 748 motor is different from the 750 or the S2R

The 750 and S2R and 2 valve motors while the 748 is 4 valve.

As to the question, I think the Ducati is going to be a little quicker with a little more power. Plus it costs more.

The Hawk is damn close for an 18 year old machine.

Don't the Ducs require a lot more maintenance, as in a $1000 valve job every 5 or 10k? And the Honda is.....a Honda
