How to jack up the hawk?

Hey guys,

I bought a 1500lb motorcycle lift/jack at Pepboys, but I don't see how I am going to be able to jack up the hawk with it...On one side the pipes interfere and on the other it looks too delicate with the water pump and the oil pump...Will this jack not work? How do I jack this bike up to work on the forks and stuff? It is just like this one here:

I have something very similar and it will not work on the hawk, as you have found. I do not have the center stand- I have a rear wheel race stand instead. Either of them will get the rear off the ground. To get the front up if you have a garage with exposed rafters you can hang a "come-along" and use that with a strap to lift the front. I have also used a small hydrolic jack under the engine- but it isn't as safe or as stable as the come-along.

I have a jack similar to the one that was listed as a link. What I do to lift the whole bike up is to place a sheet of one inch plywood underneath and situate the bike in a manner as to not have any presssure on the exhaust pipes or the coolant pipe. Then using the holding straps that were given with the kit, strap it down to level it out. This past winter I was able to put a new front end on, redo the exhaust and remove the rear tire with out any troubles.
