    Blinker options?

    Hey guys,

I really would like to replace my big stock Honda blinkers, but this is the first "naked" bike I've had so I need to do some researching first. On an R6 and F3 I had in the past I would get the Dassault cateye blinkers that had 3m adhesive on them...They looked awesome, but on this Hawk (which is my favorite bike ) I can't do that...The blinkers have to fit in the frame mounts, I know for the rear, but not sure about the front...anyway was wondering what you guys have done???? Can you give me some advice and post pics of what you think looks best, etc.? I was thinking maybe some short stalks???? But then if I could cut them down altogether it would give that clean look...They didn't bother me as much until I got my bar end mirrors, but now they stick out like a sore thumb, and since I got my new supertrap short exhaust to expose my beautiful rear wheel, they are going to be the biggest eye sore...So advice and pics please!
Damn right it's a Hawk GT

I drilled to holes in the front to fit smaller indicators (removed the mounts)...In the back I used the standard mounts (left the rubber in place) and fitted eagle eye indicators with two washers (one on each side of the mount) since the holes are a bit too big - no camera on me today, take some pics tomorrow.

Maybe not the most aesthetically pleasing option but if you like the stick on ones I know I've seen a pic of a hawk tail with stick on teardrops on the back, and you could probably fit some small stick on ones on the headlight bracket, a buddy of mine did that to his Duc and it looked quite nice.

i used the lockhart philip alluminum ones they are $40 a pair but nice.
can be gotten at most shops with a good supply of stuff.

and mounting them to the headlight braket is very common.

Dave at Canyon Chasers ( http://www.canyonchasers.net/shop/generic/buell.php ) did a nice write up on using Buell "winkers".

I've replaced the rears but not up front yet.

as you can see in my avatar, i run the squidly approch of "no front turn signals"

i highly reccomend NOT doing that.

i do plan on adding some custom ones myself.. im thinking some tiny LED ones mounted to the fork tubes.. i just havent gotten to it yet...

WOW, that is really nice - a great write up and the price is almost silly. I'm getting some and doing this to my bike.

Here's some pictures of front and back:

Drilling the holes in the front bracket, make sure you have enough room to fit the headlight shell back...well, if that's not stating the bleedin' obvious...better than ending up with a swiss cheese bracket

+1 on recommending the Buell blinkers.

I've had them on my Hawk for about Five years now, no problems. I think I've only blown one bulb in that time. Make sure you get the correct models, front vs rear, or vice-versa, I can't remember which way. If Dave's write up doesn't say, I replied to someone else's request for blinker options in the last two months and gave the correct set there. A search should turn it up. In that post I also mentioned that they are left and right specific. There is a little vent on the lens which wants to point down, for drainage.

I went the route of getting different bulbs, some amber 1157 series I think, which kept the blinking rate correct, and with a simple re-wiring allowed me to have running lights. I don't have any close up pics, but Dave's site does.
