What are you guys paying for tire mount and balance?

So far the cheapest price $140 if I bring them the wheels. Most places won't balance the rear.

    I am not kidding.

ya you need to go to a honda shop that can balance a vfr rim

if your removing them your self
    just do it your self

    online
a pair of tire irons cost $12
    dunlopes
    front cost about $100
    rear cost about $130
    shipped to your door

change them your self and have them balanced at the shop for $7-10 a rim.

or spend another $60-70 on a bubble balancer and do it all your self.

im change the rear on my rc51 this week and taking it in to be balanced
i will line up the dot (light spot on the tire) with steam most shop guys dont pay that much attention. also if you take your time and are real careful you can change it with out chipping the paint, again most shop guys dont care.

Where are you located? Maybe find a "hole in the wall" type shop that has the equipment and see what they charge.

I found a dealer around here that charges $40 for the set to mount/balance if you buy the tires from them. Last year a friend of a friend changed mine for a 6-pack and then I also found a friend through a non-Hawk list that will do sets for $20 to local listers.

Do some more searching and I am sure you'll be able to find someone who can do it cheaper. Or like jaysun said you can try and have at yourself. I am sure you'll build up some forearm strength

When I bought my tire, I asked the guy about mounting and balancing, but was sure to tell him my hawk has a VFR style rear wheel. He said he could mount it but he'd have to send it out to another shop for the balancing. Said it might take a bit longer, but only charged me $20, on top of the price of the tire.

If you were looking for a support group you're barking up the wrong tree. This place is fulla enablers dude. - Shooter77us

I've used the chain store Cycle gear, $25 if you buy the tire from them, $30 otherwise. Quality depends on whos working at any given moment, its a chain store though so beware of the posers.

I pay $25 if you take the wheel off and give it to them. Pretty easy to do... I'm an amateur too

Free... I do my own. I invested in a Harbor Freight Changer with the Motorcycle attachment. Some Irons, rim protectors and good tire lube (which I don't have yet) and you're all set!

Well worth it, but it takes some getting used to.

As far as balancing? I've never had to use weights. I just do a slow spin balance test on the axle. It's always been fine.

Cycle gear has been the nicest so far, they actually told me less than that, but said they couldn't balance the rear. +1 because they did know what a Hawk GT was. I was actually referred there by KWS, because well.. let's no go there.

I am taking a leap of faith Randy will do them. I have some on order. If not, I will just get someone at Roebling to do it.

First Champion said they couldn't do it. Then, they said they could for about $500. Since they know these are 2 $100 tires, they added that they won't mount/balance tires they don't sell. I didn't even argue or ask more, because I already hate their guts, so whatever.

I emailed several out of town Honda delaers and they are in the $400 range so far. The main reason I asked the question here, is I am going out of town and it would be easy to drop off /pick up these wheels on the way. It isn't conveinient enough to justify $100+ for mounting though.

If I weren't living where I am now, I would certainly do this myself. Lack of air and room, make this a poor place to work on something so important to safety.

Thank you everyone for your input.

Damn right it's a Hawk GT

Local shop charged me $30 for mounting and balancing the rear tire that I purchased online. They didn't complain a bit about it being single sided.

                        BMWs too.

except the local ducati/bmw/ect shop is also the honda shop that he refrenced.. lol.

was screwy about that, is they can do it cheap. the previous service manager (years ago) was the orignal owner of my hawk... then again.. thats probably why i was hooked up in the past.
