rode the hawk to work today..... but it sucks.

its not riding the hawk that sucks.

its HAVING to ride the hawk, because my last running car, my camaro, busted the clutch out last weekend.
i borrowed a car yesterday, so i could put the hawk together, but dammit... i cant catch a break.

riding the hawk is fun of course.. i still have that goofy grin i get from riding, but dammit.. its just not as fun when you HAVE to ride.

    oh, and heres a tip:
if you put the short metal "race legal" tire fill nippes on, then you cannot put air in the tires at the corner gas station.... and low airpressure makes a hawk handle like a 'busa...

I love HAVING to ride to work everyday. Thats why Ive always wanted to own a HAWK because it's the perfect fusion of a daily driver and a "grin factor" motorcycle. I dont know about Yall's rides but Ive got my Hawk running B E A utifully. I LOVE IT!!!!!! YEEEEEEHAAAAAAW!!!!!!!!!( I guess writing in all caps is OK when you're not being controversial, very interesting.....hmmmmm). By the by I recommend the 520 chain conversion for the Hawk and going with a 46 rear sprocket and a 16 front(Thats a gear ratio of 2.88 from the stock 2.75, Poindexter). I found myself hanging out just below the powerband in heavy traffic situations which was a little ANNOYING. Now my engine revs about 300 rpms higher at the same speed before the gearing change. Again my Hawks' engine is stock (aside from my expert tunning and a racing clutch and springs) so this gearing change would be a different for the modded engines I suppose. I got up this am to some very chilly regional temps (about 35 degrees f at my house) but no worries- pop on an extra layer of fleece, throw on the chaps and heavy leather jacket, dig out my winter /cold rain riding gloves and I'm off to work! What sucks is when it turns to 75 or 80 by the afternoon and I have to throw all that cold weather gear back on

but my commute is through some nice hill country and my hawk makes it even better!

Shit man, I'm not fixing the AC in my truck just so I won't tempted to drive anywhere I could ride.
