    Help Please...

Ok as most of you know, I just purchased my first bike an 88' Hawk about a week ago. And I do not know much (anything) on how to fix any problems with it.

I noticed tonight that when I started my bike the main light was working along with the left front light, and the rear main (red) light, but the back two side lights were not working along with the front right light.

The strange thing is, is that the blinkers work just fine on all sides.

Whats the deal? They were all working before and now...not so much!

Any ideas on what I should do or how to fix this?

    Thanx in advance!

You might want to have this moved by a mod to the Mech-Tech forum for better exposure.

Just off the top of my head, have you checked your fuses?

Battery connections clean and free of corrosion?

Traced the wiring to see if you have a short somewhere?

    Checked the ground(s)?

The front turn signals are front running lights also so that is why when the bike is running the two from amber lights and the head light are on. As for the rear turn signals they are just that and are only on when flashing so when you are not using the turnsignals the only light on the rear of the bike will be the red running light which is also the brake light.

As for why one of the front amber lights is not working it could be a bad bulb or a possible wire came undone to that light.

        The Manual

Just in case you are not aware that the complete Factory Service Manual is available via this site:

Not sure how much help it would be with troubleshooting your particular problem (there is a complete wiring diagram), but if you have not already done so head over to the Mechanical and Technical Topic List and download the PDF of the Factory Service Manual http://www.hawkgtforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1404. You'll then have it on hand any time you start working on your Hawk. It's the first place I look for help everytime.

        All the best,
        Guth

Check the bulb in the front blinker- it has probably burned out (old bulbs sometimes do that )
