    interseting thought...

anyone think a Ktm 950 Supermoto Vtwin might fit in a hawk frame?

i was just looking at it, and man, for a Vtwin, its a pretty small motor... hmmmmm.

that would be too much fun! (in a good way ) but then, you could just shell out the mega bucks for the ktm...

frame might twist like a prezel

i remember a wile back reading that the problem with putting an african twin in a hawk frame is that you develope stress cracks after a wile.

im pretty sure this was in race applications where the forces are a little more extreme.

I saw this yamahawk for sale somewhere recently... of course I can't remember where....

but this is 600 yamaha, I think you guys are talking about the crazy one that used a TDM motor or something and had some ridiculous amount of torque.

yea, i think it was a 850 inline twin or something like that.. he had to notch the frame for clutch cover clearance, etc

Found it. 140 ft-lbs of torque according to the post... thats almost as much as my other Honda ... an accord that weighs about 3200 lbs.

JR might be able to get us an update?

I keep having delusions of putting a CR 500 motor in a Hawk.

Take a look at the engine:

One of THE most riveting displays at last fall's Intermot show was KTM's. The Austrian-tinged adrenaline was due primarily to the four distinct and highly trick street models the company displayed: The Super Duke 990 sport rod, which we previewed more than a year ago (December 2003), the RC8 superbike, a wild-looking stripped RC8 called the Venom and, lastly, a Supermoto version of the big-selling and highly popular 950 Adventure. With the Super Duke entering production now (though not yet f

                          holy crap

if it could be done you would need to do a dummy tank for those towering carbs.

and you could probably rest your balls on the rear head.

I think it`d be easier to just ductape the motor to the buddyseat. that`s never gonna fit.

But why stuff a bigger motor in the delicate frame. just big bore the thing to 900cc or something.
What was the start of all this?
When did the cogs of my Hawk begin to turn?
Perhaps it is impossible to grasp the answer now,
from deep within the flow of time...

But, for a certainty, back then,
I loved it so much, yet hated so many.
I hurt others and was hurt myself...

Yet even then, I rode like the wind,
                            whilst my laughter echoed
                            under cerulean skies...

the rear head is my big question.
the engine itself looks narrow enough. i dont think the clutch/trans is too big.. as long as the rear head clears the cast part of the frame, its good.

the carbs dont HAVE to be pointed straight up.
if i can modify a chassis enough to fit one, i REALLY should be able to do something as simple as a intake runner and carb modification. lol.

and yea, if the tank becomes a shell.. so be it. i can always make a new tank in the tailsection or something. i donno. i'll figure it out... thats half the fun.

really though, i just want a nice strong "wont break at 100hp" motor... without giving up that hawk size/weight/feel
