Depends on how heavily it's raining and if the roads are slick from all of the oil/debris rising to the surface...it can make cleaning the bike a real PITA, though. I do, however, love riding this time of the year vs. in the summer heat.
i cant see my bike in the parkinglot right now. its parked 3 spaces from infront of the building. lol.
its POURING right now.. and all i can think of is how fun it is to pull on the rain gear, and just stroll out there and ride along like nothings unusual...
sudden deep puddles do scare me a tad, but for the most part, i like riding in the rain... it requires all of my full concentration.. i have to be smooth, i have to look, etc..
and somehow, i find that stress very relaxing... i donno why.. but i like it.
One of the best weekend trips I did was in the rain. Well, it was damp all weekend, not raining the whole time. It was through the mountain in WV. The weather kept most people off the roads, so we had some of the sweetest switchback roads all to ourselves. As long as you were smooth it was not a problem. I have to say, one of the others in the group was not as happy. He was really spooked by the damp conditions.
Eh, not for everyone. I personally don't mind the rain as long as it is not a complete deluge.
I got caught in the rain in the mountains, sporting jeans and a mesh jacket. Not cool. Once I got a rain suit weather became irrelevant. Like everyone else said, be smooth and its a good ride.
well i want to say I dont like rideing in the rain but I dont have a rain suit and well I have not rode in the rain really at any one like 1 once.
But I do like to ride at night well dusk when its getting dark
i used to have a good rainsuit, but i dont anymore.
im assuming you have a real jacket... in that case, goto kmart/walmart and get a weather suit.. the bottom will be bright yellow pants that you can pull over your regular pants.. the top of the pants should come up over your waist a bit high...
you can then wear your motorcycle jacket over it (dont forget to zip up the vents), or go all out and throw the rain jacket over your jacket.. if you do that, put the hood up, then your helmet on, and water wont even drip down your neck... and you're a nice visible bright yellow.
The rides to and from this year's ECHR were through rippin' rain & hail storms. I know what you mean, it should scare me, but it's a blast instead. Luckily, I was only about 70 miles away.
We rode up Mt. Evans in CO (~14,400 ft.) in a hailstorm- being faint from altitude while 2-up in a hailstorm on a rented bike did start to suck. I was the only non-Hawk, but at least it was a Nighthawk (Nothawk).
Before I got my aerostich I found a pair of raincoat pants at the thrift store for $3. The first day I tried to use them I didn't notice how billowy they were around the legs and before I could even get on the bike the pants brushed the header pipe and were no longer pants!

oh yea..
umm, be sure to get the kind that have elastic in them lol.
sure, they cost more then twice as much as the $3 ones, but the $7 is worth it
my brother & I were coming back from a group ride late one night in front of the mall. highway was dimly lit, its 5 lanes wide, and we had the whole thing to ourselves. it felt like we were flying and since there was very little risk of critters running out in front on us, we just blasted down thru there. it was great.
as for rain, I don't mind it, as long as its not a torrential downpour. I did that once. downpour, high winds, and wicked lightening for 100 miles. I had to lean into the wind to keep from being blown over. no raingear, that sucked.
but what's priceless are the looks you get from people in their cars. you know they are thinking "are you stupid?!"
