    Hard Luggage Mounted !

Finally got my Sh.. together on the hard luggage thing. I was planning this for a while, http://www.hawkgtforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3673
Since then, I have bought myself a 46L Givi top case and mounting plate, and fabbed up a rough mount that I'm testing for now; with an eye out for stress on the turnsignal mounts. I'm not happy about the tail light, which is now zip-tied to the top of the license plate rack, but I'm thinking of changing the rear end up a bit, but next season, cause this year's almost done.
I made the mount out of plated angled steel, and some unplated 3/8" round rod. The plating makes the welds look nasty, but who cares this is preliminary and the real one will NOT be like that.

BTW Thanks to rons647 for the ideas and LeftRightLeftThrottle for the CAD file.

    Here's the case:

There's a small and a medium full face helmet in there now (with spare visors,) but it will fit my 2 piece riding suit, gloves, boots AND the Wife's jacket w/liner: I just have to lock the helmets off the side of the bike

The mount comes out of the rear bodywork where the tail light is normally. It's bolted under the seat, near the latch, with the bolts for the bodywork; and it's also bolted with the rear turnsignals. (rons647)

        As it is right now:
It's heavy! There's a huge steel plate under the plastic tray that probably weighs 5-7 pounds.
It's ugly! The welds look like the worst I have ever done.

        BUT:
There are no extra holes anywhere, or any other permanent modification to the bike
The box is in the right position (I ride 2up more than 75% of the time,) to provide the passenger with (a) enough seat to sit on, and (b) a nifty backrest.
It works !! Hawk versatility increased 500% - no more hearing from the wife, "Can we please take the car... I don't feel like lugging all my gear around !!!"

is it hard ride 2 up with the carbin seat? I thought it would be hard with the seat slanted / rounded toward the back.

That's never been an issue. I guess it's soft enough to deform. But my passenger does complain of back pain after long rides (2+ hours,) with either stock, or Corbin seat. As the driver, I gotta say the stock seat allows my passenger to slide forward, and mash my nuts into the tank, so I prefer to ride 2up with the Corbin... But @ 140 lbs, with the most boney ass in the world, the Corbin is way too hard.

Here is a better close up picture of the underneath.

The final one will be much cleaner than this.
