why do you even need one
you dont have a bike with a SSSA do you?
well you can get stands on ebay for 100 or so before shipping and thats cheap.
i charged 70 shipped
but i havent even decided to make more at this point.
let you know if i do.
picture of the stand in action

i make the offer to sell a few at a time as an affordable option to the lazy or the incapable (not everyone has a mig welder sitting in there garage)1988 & 1991 hawkgt, 2005 rc51

I'm partial to the Pit Bull stands:
Pit Bull produces unbeatable quality motorcycle stands and trailer restraint systems on the market for your sport bikes, dirt bikes, or cruisers. All of our motorcycle stands and motorcycle transport
Can pick them up at a varety of vendors, direct, or at one of the Cycle World shows where they have a booth.
I also have a "homemade" stand, but the Pit Bull is sooo much nicer.
-P.I need a bigger garage.
It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it.

with the solid rod did you just weld it to the square tubing or did you drill a hole and put it threw then weld it?
Do you think a piece of round tubeing might work for the bottem better then the square stuff? I think it would make a easyer to put on the stand. All you would have to do is notch the square tubbing with a grinder and make it fit.
You would have to add for the think ness of the square tubbing and add it to the hight to make sure the wheel will not touch. So then the high would go up to around 15 in tall.
well let me know what you thinkA Link to the pics I have taken for the 2007 Scavenger hunt.

lego, i cant take credit for the stand design but i think its perfect in its simplicity. there really is no need to complicate things.
you can use square, round hexaginal tubibg for all i care, it shouldnt make a differance. square tubing is the easiest stiff to work with.
i did drill a hole through the tube for the insert rod and welded it from the inside of the tube. i didnt want a bead of weld on the side that goes into the bike.
and from lars' post you can see they work just fine like that.1988 & 1991 hawkgt, 2005 rc51

+1 on Jasons stand. I bought one from the guy who was making these originally about 10 years ago for 50$. I originally wanted one of those with the bearing in them BUt why do you need those? You should not be running the bike in gear on a stand anyways. The wheel rotates just fine. The only advantage i see is the wheels on the more expensive stand make it easier to move a bike back and forth. Not worth twice the price in my opinion.ChrisT

but it makes oiling the chain a breeze.. click it in first at idle, wipe it down.. lube it and let the oil work its way in and around...
i dont have a chain guard or the front sprocket guard either.. i suppose i like living on the edge. lol
