i just got my new helmet yesterday.. im still shocked that i have it.. ive been drooling over this helmet for over a year... (aka before i was riding regularly again)



its an HJC AC-12 carbon....... feels unbelievably light, great ventilation, visor seals great.. it WONT FOG.. i can leave the visor down even at stoplights with me breathing thru my mouth..
only downside is, i know i should have a bright colored helmet for the cagers to see me.... but the cool factor of the carbon fiber brought me over to the dark side.. oh well.. i suppose i can allow myself to have SOME style.. lol.

im pretty happy with it right now.

I had a RF-900 but just upgraded to an all black Shoei RF-1000.

Bought it used off e-bay for $180.00 with nose piece, lower chin vent material and an iridium gold shield.

It is a much better helmet than the RF-900 and I plan to keep this RF-1000 around for a long time with the replacement / washable pads and liner.

Not asked but other kit: usually Stich Roadcrafter and Oxtar or Daytona boots,Dainese or shift gloves.When sportysport riding, RS Taichi leather.Goofing off around town,Dainese/Spidi/JR jacket,jeans and Doc's.

I have an Arai Astral X that I LOVE!
I also have an HJC CL-15 that's not bad although it's heavy and not nearly as good in the venting department.
The best helmets in terms of comfort in my opinion is either Arai or Shoei.

My lid's a Cirus I bought in 2004... made by HJC. Uses the same shield as an HJ-02, so I assume they're comparable.

I want a Z1R Strike or a Zox.

Soumy Spec1R just replaced an HJC AC10. Both fit me well. The Suomy fits better. It's very light and to the british safety standard. But it's the noisiest thing I've ever had on my head. Earplugs are a must even for short hops.
Where did the $90 AC12 come from? That's unbelievably cheap.

I have an HJC CL14 with tribal graphics. But I'm in the market for a Scorpion. Its still blazing hot in Texas this time of year so any full face helmet sucks but I'm still pretty good about wearing one.
