    The Mother Of All Questions

There is no way around it. it MUST be asked.

Can a Hawk pop wheelies without using the clutch? pure throttle wheelies I mean.
I`d like to think that my Hawk is pretty strong but so far my attempts at wheeliing have failed.

So free me of my doubts: is a "stock" Hawk too weak to wheelie or do I just plain suck?
What was the start of all this?
When did the cogs of my Hawk begin to turn?
Perhaps it is impossible to grasp the answer now,
from deep within the flow of time...

But, for a certainty, back then,
I loved it so much, yet hated so many.
I hurt others and was hurt myself...

Yet even then, I rode like the wind,
    whilst my laughter echoed
    under cerulean skies...

A stock hawk can and will wheelie without the use of the clutch in at least the first 2 gears. A rider with more skill than me (that's not saying much as my wheelie skills are lacking) could do it in 3rd I am sure.

I pulled the front wheel in first and second when I first got my Hawk.
I was accelerating like I was used to with my GS500.
      BIG surprise. LOL!

        ooo000OOO I like this subject

I always thought the same thing until someone showed me how.

what you do is from a dead stop take off.
        role on the throttle hard
then close, letting the front suspension load
then open it up again, using the help of the suspension
do all this around 2500-3000 rpm to start with. and kind of in a fluid motion.
        it will stand up

the trick is to use the weight of you and the bike with the suspension to get it up.

second is much harder, I always just stuck with first.

That is how I learned to do wheelies on my Ninja.

Yep, if I roll mine up to about 10-15 mph then kill the throttle and then hard throttle it'll wheelie... she'll pull several inches off the ground with a good hard transition into 2nd from 1st alone too, so just a little coaxing and she holds it up there... I haven't been able to get the 2nd gear wheelie up over a foot off the ground or so though.... I'm not at all into 'stunting' but I do love a good hard wheelie under acceleration down the road though!!

I want to learn to wheelie but not on my beloved Hawk. If I wrecked I'd be pissed...

Then don't wheelie your bike if that is how you feel. No one is looking for an arguement.

You can't wheelie can you. (jK)

I can't do a wheelie either, don't plan to try, but as long as you don't do it in traffic.....

we held an informal competition a few years ago at a major race track. one of our club members did a wheelie the entire length of the drag strip. NHRA uses that drag strip too, so its regular competition length. and no, it wasn't on a hawk. that was the one and only time we did that. a lot of the people there were road racers, and I can't see that it was any more dangerous than what they normally do when they race.

I'm not much into stunting myself... but there is nothing wrong with a celebratory wheelie... just like a little racer does all the time after each victory... first name Valentino... last name Rossi... know this guy??? Haha!
