    Carbonfiber fender...

Well I am thinking about making a mold from my existing fender and then laying up a carbonfiber fender for my StreetHawk.

So I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in one if I do this?

If your interested shoot me a PM.

This is just a feeler out question... no guarantee that i will do this.

Just to let you know I have worked in fiberglass making hoods for cars but this would be my first try at carbonfiber.

I would be interested. I assume stock mounting style?

yes I would be working from the stock mounting points. this might even be a "skin" that would go over the stock fender.

I am going for looks not looking to save weight...

I also have a CB Duc solo seat cow and want to get a CB Buell X1 screen or make one.

I have re-thinked the project a little. I am now going to just "skin" the fender in carbon fiber. I am just going for a look.

I talked with a bud and I am gonna just get a nice sheet of CF and cut out a pattern and just lay it on top of the fender and keep applying layers of clear resin and sanding down till I build up a nice couple mil's thick. The trick is sanding and the building of layers. I plan on brushing on the first couple of coats then switching to a spray gun for the top finish coats after I have sanded and smoothed it out so I wont have to keep re-working the surface after each coat.

I might even consider doing the tank afterwards if it comes out ok...

If you put a skin on top, isn't it going to be hard to get it between the forks?

My plan is to paint the fender black and then cut the CF so that where the forks and the fender meet there is no CF there it will be trimmed out. I will try to feather the edge of the CF right up to a certain point to get it as close as I can. I dont think ppl will notice if done right.
