Friends,
As you may or may not know, one of our fellow racers was severely hurt during the last race of the 2006 season with the Loudon Roadracing Series. Since then a great many people have come together to show their support and stand by that racer as he continues to push forward on his long road to recovery. The racer in question is none other than Chris “jersey” Orcutt, an affable giant of a man who navigates around the racetrack on, ironically enough, a lightweight machine.
Chris’s injuries sustained during the Forumla 40 race were quite extensive and required Chris to be in the ICU and on life-support (in a induced coma no less) for over a week. Chris has recently been taken out of the ICU ward, has had his ventilator removed, and started to get up on his feet again. His road is still quite long and arduous however (surgery early next week) yet the worst, luckily, has past.
As we speak there are a number of different activities and functions planned to help get a few dollars together to help Chris along as he deals with the most important task right now, getting better. This is one of those things:
I put a call out to the boys out at Red Bull Headquarters asking them to take a look around the Office to try and find me something ‘cool’ to perhaps Raffle off for Chris. They found something alright and came through with what I think are flying colours…
The Raffle will be for a pair of extremely limited edition Alpinestar GP Tech gloves. A normal pair of these gloves retail for $215.00, however, these aren’t a normal pair. These GP Tech’s are from a run produced for the 2006 Red Bull US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca and were handed out to a very small number of V.V.I.P. guests at the event. Each pair of gloves is made in the USGP colours and has the event logo branded onto the gauntlet. The cherry on top you ask? This pair has been personally autographed by US MotoGP star Nicky Hayden!
Each raffle ticket will run you $20. There are two main ways to get a ticket.
1) Paypal, to which Mark (aka BMFR6) has graciously offered to take responsibility for handling through his Account. You can access his account to make a payment at the Paypal site (http://www.paypal.com) and using his email address - [email protected] Online Paypal payment will close down on November 8th!!
2) You can purchase a ticket at the “Jersey Drunkathon” which is being held November 11th at the Players Pub 369 Route 108 in Somersworth NH.
3) Three possibly forthcoming..watch this space
We’ll be announcing the winner at the “Jersey Drunkathon” on November 11th. If you are not in attendance (shame on you) we will have the gloves shipped to you.
Once you purchase a ticket, online, you will receive an email from me letting you know your Raffle ticket number. I’m basically going to assign everyone who buys a ticket a random number, put all those numbers in a box, and have Jersey pick one out of the box to declare the winner.
Please let any of your other roadracing passionate friends know as the more the merrier for this once-in-a-lifetime product. You can direct any questions to my personal email @ [email protected]
Thanks
