    Lookin for the old girl

I sold my Hawk back in '95 to buy a VFR. Since then I've moved on to a ZRX, Had a kid and all the rest. I'd just like to know if the old girl is still out there. It was my first bike and what I learned everything on, Riding, wrenching, modding, bodywork, suspension. In retrospect I wish I had never sold her.
So heres the particulars... I sold it on consignment at Naults Windham Honda in New Hampshire, It was painted Torch Red and Chrome Yellow (the wheels were yellow and the rifle fairing and tail piece were red with a stripe of yellow), It had the africa twin cams, a performance stage III jet kit, and a kerker whitetip exhaust, Progressive fork springs with a modded damper rod, and finally it had the Targa inserts between the tank and tailsection.
I only have a few pics of it from when I was in the Army. If anyone can hook me up with a pic or a response from the new owner I'd appreciate it.
Oh yeah... the guy who bought it had supposedly to scrastch around on because his ZX-11 was super-fast but couldn't be thrown around like the Hawk. I can sure attest to this.

Try a hail to the mailing list as well. (hawkgt.com) Good luck in finding it.

Literally EVERYBODY of whom I've heard that has owned a HawkGT and sold has regretted it! That's why mine is still in my garage (well basement for the winter) after 17 years. I just can't part with it.
I threatened a year ago...... but my wife said "Don't sell it. I like the Hawk."

    Yep, both are keepers!

If Steve doesn't have it he may know who does. The paintjob is rather unique, and those are some nice mods, so he'd have noticed. If not, the List is the place to go. They're your best chance of finding it.

Incidentally... anybody sell an '88 Grey to a big guy named Scott in Pennsylvania? He owned a gas station? I bought my Hawk off eBay from him April 2004. He'd bought it just to sell it. Said he was going to play the stock market with the money, or something like that. Spec2 exhaust, drilled out airbox, a jet kit, and a really big windscreen. I'm the 3rd owner apparently.

you guys talking about Steve lafontaine? he has had two hawks over the years, one black on with yellow stripes and one yellow one with black stripes. the black one got sold to a buddy of bobby nagle. this guy crashed it a couple of time and I bought it. fixed it up and sold it to Dan Pittman in atlanta, who put more money into it after being hit by a car, and he recently sold it to someone else in Atlanta.

steve still has his yellow one but it sounds a lot different. no kerker, yellow paint, etc.

but maybe it's another yellow one. I know Robb Z just bought my old red/white hawk and it looks nothing like it did when I owned it.

I'd forgotten Steve LaFontaine is from VT or NH,I forget which, and I was thinking his yellow Hawk has a really high Kerker on it...but I was guessing the off chance that Steve Lenac might've had it.

Heh-it's kind of funny how Hawks can get tracked- yours to Keener then Jen/Trevor and to Robb Z.I really hope that when he sells it,I'm guessing it might even last as long as May with him,it stays "in the family". BTW:I have your Hawk Connection lefty on my bookshelf with some Hawk heads and Picotte's Muzzy SBK cams as objets d'art

I think I have the Hawk Connection subframe and red rear race tail form that bike too.

Steve Lenac, the "Godfadda" of Jersey. When we did that VIN thread this past spring, he had VINs from the titles to 24 Hawks (including a pile of 18 frames). That was just from the pile of titles he had close at hand.

                          Thanks

Thanks to all for the help and direction. I've gone up to Loudon on track weekends twice since selling her and thought for sure she would turn up there.

                            woo hoo

After looking around on another sight I saw a pic of Steve Lafontaine's bike. It caught my eye because of the yellow painted rims. Nothing else is discernable, but that color was right on. Now I'm thinking I might be close.
