    flipped eccentric?

I believe I have read something brief in a couple different posts about flipping the eccentric to lower the back of the bike. It looks like that has been done to my bike and I wanted to spin it back around to raise the bike back up. When I tried it, the head of the rear bolt that mounts the brake caliper hit on the swingarm.
What do I need to do to raise my bike back up?

    Anybody know?

Sounds like you should remove the caliper and keep spinning it.

Or you could just jack the rear preload all the way up and forget about the eccentric.

I tried that and could not get the bolts back in after I spun it. I don't know, maybe the axle is supposed to be on the top side of the hub? I just thought I had saw some posts saying that you could change it to that location to lower the bike, and it looked like it had already been done to mine because it was in that position. Maybe I was smoking crack.

The std. position is with the axle at the top. Some folks flip it 180 to raise the rear end of the bike for racing. The worth of that is subject to debate, but...

yeah, loosen the pinch bolt and use a ruler too measure the sprocket distance from the swingarm to the front of the sprocket as you spin the eccentric to find when its at its closet spot the eccentric is forward and horizontal to the ground. Then start pulling the eccentric under ( counterclockwise ) instead of over ( clockwise ). You will adjust the chain tighter counterclockwise from then on. Does that make sense? Sorry I just woke up.

Why does everyone want to jack their rearend way up?With all the ways to change geometry, this adds another variable to the equation. There's like...., 2 moving parts and it spins around in a circle.Let's all take our eccentrics and collectively turn them over.:kiki:

For me, BTT - I believe mine has ALREADY been flipped and I want to flip it back. Before going through the hassle of doing so, I'm trying to verify. My eccentric is buggered, you know, somebody *adjusted* it with a drift and hammer!

If the teeth on the eccentric are marred or damaged, I say you should just pull the whole thing out: file and reshape the teeth, make sure everything else is A-OK, and put it back in the proper way.
