    Welding

So I'm in the shop welding a crack in an aluminum head casting, and when I really step on the TIG pedal, it makes the phone ring. Landline. Dafuq is going on?? I swear it's a thing. lol

I have a illegal " helper " box that when hooked up to a CB radio will light up the florescent lights in a gas station island.

Good for over 50 miles line of site. Step on most all but a few radios when you key up. Sitting here in a box if anyone wants to give her a go.

I sit down to eat dinner and either my mom or one of my kids calls me. Every day. But thatís a good thing.

When did you become a Tig master? The only direct cause/effect I see regularly happens when I have my coffee in the Am.......

My Tig is not High Frequency; but if you are doing Aluminum....yours is. Guessing it has some to do with that.

It's a HF thing. I've been wondering once the new garage is built if it will jack with the LED lights or not. Guess I'll be finding out in about a month or so.

Mine took out my cell phone that was plugged in charging out in the garage at the time. I went with a localized ground rod and no issues since

Shhhh. That's all I need, more stuff to do. I'm definitely not a master. It's a Lincoln Square Wave 175, old school. The phone that was ringing was cordless, maybe the corded unit in the office was too, but who knows. Must be a RF thing. I think the cordless is 2.4ghz.

Well the old school land line ring is actually a relatively low frequency (like 20hz or something) AC waveform, so yeah it actually could be an interference issue:

                    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ringing_(telephony)

I would suspect a bad ground on the phone, or maybe something weird in the way you have the landline power hooked up. That's a new one!

Yep cordless is 2.4ghz, some are 5ghz, same as microwaves and WiFi. Must be hitting those frequencies! Very interesting.

Just do like I do JD - never answer the phone. It won't bother you when it rings anymore.

There are literally like 3 people outside my family members that I'll immediately pick up the phone for. JD is one of them though I expect we've only spoke <5 times in this life.

Very frequently though, the phone is the stereo and it is set with the ringer on mute as to not disturb the vibe from the thundering towers.
