    Hot Gear?

So... it's too hot to wear my black fullface Bell in Fl.I've taken to borrowing my wife's Scorpion XO beanie and squashing it onto my big head.My mesh jacket ok except in the heat of the day..
anybody ever use one of those cooling vests? The ones you soak with h2o and let evaporate and cool you?I like to ATGATT ( at least helmet/boots/gloves) and I feel kinda naked going fast w/o some sort of armor.elbow protection etc....tanktop doesn't do much for Strawberryrash. Icon armor vest? What do you guys do?

White shoei neotec helmet, mesh jacket, and mesh gloves. There’s also http://www.dragginjeans.com/mens/draggin-shirt/ and Velcro in armor.

ParcNHawk NT696 I think one of them use a cooling towel.

Cooling towel - that's a good idea. I have one around somewhere too if I can find it. I ride with my regular Shoei with all the vents open and faceshield cracked open, ventilated lether gloves, mesh jacket. No extra leg protection. I don't usually wear anything extra on the bottom half unless it is below about 45 degrees.

I could be the king of color coordinated bombast.Put this over a wet jersey.Pants? yeah....I'll just do jeans. Chance re-surfacing my knees.Picking gravel.Having crashed more than a few times...it's usually the palms/elbows/knees .If it's a real bad slide...the outer edges of your hips.Try not to slide if you're not wearing leathers...ROLL baby.
I'll have to counter the beanie helmet with a big fat cigar. Don't you just want to wear that?

I have taken to leaving my gear at home when its real hot out. I feel overall i'm safer in street cloths and comfortable, not sweating, not dehydrated, not sluggish, and at my physical and mental best than i am geared up and not all there mentally and physically. . Ill take the decrease in the likely hood of an issue over the protection for a more likely one any day.

I wear the white lid on the street. Helps.

Yes, I use a wet vest. I ride a lot over 90+ degrees. At 95+ I usually have my wet vest under my mesh jacket. You get a little wet around the waist but not bad. I start the ride with it folded in a gallon size zip lock bag filled with water to soak it. Take it out and wring some but not much water out of it. As long as you are moving it is very good at cooling your upper torso. Cycle Gear had them on sale for 29.95 a few years back. I even know of someone who wears it wet working out around the house in the sun on a 85+ degree day. A breeze helps. Not sure how a very humid day would be but here in CA humidity is always pretty low.

If it's too hot your just not cool enough Bill. Quit yer bitching and ride on!!! My wet vest is any shirt I wear under my jacket, lol... Seriously though, the best I have found is wearing a light white Tshirt and getting the lightest color mesh jacket I can find. For pants I wear Klim Outriders and I wear them just as pants. They served me well on my half country ride last year. That is about as much as I can do without jumping through hoops.

That being said around Central Texas I have hit the point of summer where if I ride it will be for a meet up for breakfastor I don't ride at all until around late September (unless it is just to get farther up north. Temps have been up into the 99 on the shady side of my house for a while but I think I just realized yesterday that for some reason it stops there (digital unit)... I'm pretty sure the sun touched down on the other side so I avoid the west side of the house .

Gotta wear it down like Jax if you're trying for cool. The old man's is too high on his forehead with the bandana.
