Many of you know I've made multiple subframes and styles over the past several years. Rod at Hiperform also makes (made?) a cool subframe for the racers. I think Hiperform no longer offers them but could be wrong.

This is simply an interest check in a modular subframe that is by no means plug and play for those that are hitting the race track and/or working on extreme builds. The subframes would be machined form 6061T6 and bolt to the upper locations only, though it is possible that there would be a provision for a lower strut to be added. Sorting out wiring, tail unit selection, etc. would be entirely up to the builder.

If there is enough interest I might consider running this is a group buy with target price (shipped in the ConUS) around $200 or less...depending on the interest level and how trick it ends up being.

I'd likely start with this quickie draft I did a few weeks back, simplify and strengthen it a touch, reach out and have the top plates laser cut as it might be quite reasonable, and have them all hard anodized (natural - so dark gray). This is, at least, where my mind is at the moment.

I'd want to do a run of probably 10 units to make it feasible and keep costs down.

If interested, chime in here. Pic for attention (and no need to comment on this particular design, as it will have little in resemblance to the final product if this project goes as I expect it may).

Without going too far down the *design by committee rabbit hole* input is welcome.

          LOVELY!

may want to beef up the areas around the bolts. look thin and could possibly tear out. would not worry about the ares under compression. the area under tension is where i'd focus.

hang a stock to smaller battery box option

I'll get you some pics of what we did for the racebike, it worked out very well. Basically two long bolts through the top of the subframe, then a small plate the width of the frame to sandwich the battery in. And the two long bolts also served as a mounting point for the taillight/license plate street version.

Thanks for this - and I agree on both accounts. I drafted a series of sort of modular brackets and hangers to go with whatever I end up making. One item is specific to mounting a smaller speedcell or shorai battery. Another is a CDI bracket.

I've mentioned this before...It would be great if there were an aftermarket subframe that worked with the stock rear fairing. The vast majority of us are building bikes that keep that plastic but many of us would like a subframe that looks a little cleaner, maybe deletes the lower struts. I'd like one that does that as well as gives me a place to hide the battery and bolt the R/R underneath-parallel to the ground. I'd love it if I could still attach my WW Cowl Savers and Hooks. If I had a subframe like that, I'd order the Motoforza Hawk Race Tail with Tail Light Cut Out in carbon fiber and be the happiest Hawker around.

Not really advocating the design by committee, I still think that a new aftermarket rear subframe should be made to work with a Motoforza or Fabian monorear, a small battery and placing the wiring in the rear subframe/cowling comboÖ No need to make it overly adjustable to fit any rear fairing type - let those customers work with that. Or put in another way, make a subframe and rear plastic cowling as a unit, similar to the Hiperform combo, but based on a more stock looking rear part...
