Are We Big Enough for a Swap Meet?

Wouldn't it be crazy if there were a Hawk GT parts swap meet?

Take all your spares and head out. sell some, trade some, add to your collection. Get everything you need from one stop. Meet people, exchange ideas, build a whole bike over the weekend. Find parts you thought you couldn't find or didn't even know existed. Pass something on that will do something better than sit in a milk crate for 20 years.

Swap meets are awesome. But not if it's only two people, each with a set of used but partially stripped down cylinder heads.

Do we have "critical swap meet mass?"

It sounds like fun. The geographic center of the contiguous lower 48 is Lebanon, Kansas. I wonder if they would roll out the red carpet for us? Failing that, how about Omaha, Nebraska?

That sounds like an awesome idea!

I've spent most of my money on women, beer, cars and motorcycles. The rest of it I just wasted.

Ironically enough, we have nobody currently pinned in KS or NE

I always thought that was what SOWD and CTHR/WCHR were for? Then again, I've never been to a swap meet.

Geographical center sounds cool, but the idea of a mecca to HordPower has been joked about in the past - just throwing it out there.

I like the idea, but not really sure we have the mass by ourselves. Maybe if we teamed up with the VFR groups and/or CBR groups, since we interchange some parts with those guys.

I think the CTHR is more of this kind of an event, not so much with WCHR, although I have been known to bring extra parts for some during the event. Bringing an extra battery cover for one hawker this year.

We tried to have a Wrench Day in Socal once or twice but I don't remember if they ever got off the ground much.

With all that being said, I have probably, two bikes that I need to be part out so that I can build a third bike for a WA buddy. Anybody have some Triumph or Suzuki GS 500 parts they want to swap for Hawk parts?

Would more people come to the CTHR if we had swap meet day or setup? That is historically the biggest consistent collection of hawkers.

The swap meet at Rice-O-Rama would be a great place to bring hawk parts.

Virtual Swap Meet ... film your parts 360° post them on here. Put on your 3d glasses and check the inventory.

CTHR has never (yet) been a swap meet. It's not a swap meet until people bring their spares with them.

CTHR has been the duality of a ride and a party.

Maybe start out small and have those driving to CTHR bring used "worked when I pulled the motor" parts.

A central location geographically, would be Kansas City. A nearby KOA campground, track, inexpensive hotels would be appropriate. I could justify trailering my bikes & parts ... the downside, of course, is the $$$ spent to sell a stash of used, low-value parts and no-margin bikes.

If there is an existing vintage bike show and swap meet that Hawkers could ‘add on’ would allow other makes & models we have to be swapped as well.

Plus I'd just be selling my stuff just to buy more stuff.

I will be at the Mid-Ohio VMD this year. If someone were to obtain a 'booth' we could collaborate on a swap. Mainly though, I am just interested in dumping parts that I don't need, but aren't worth the trouble of listing and shipping.

riot has the idea as there will lots of other folks there to, doubt anyone needs a "booth" as much as a camping area staked out. I know the Norton folks do basically this by all congregating in one place. There are large open fields in Bucyrus, OH... but there's not much else there
