    I Can't Believe I Did That!

Making a new "can't believe I did that" thread. I couldn't find the old one.

Making a shield for the spreader today. The old one was thin and ugly. I made it a few years ago and have learned a lot since then....

But... In this latest version, while not paying attention, I made the mirror opposite of what I was trying to make.

    Oops.

But the welds are nice and strong.. great to cut off..

Well that's an afternoon in the trash.

    I can't believe I did that.

Not being a welder I haven't done this but I have cut LOTS of pieces of moulding with the angle backwards.

              The saga continues.

After "re making" the back plate out of the old pieces I was unhappy with the fit.... Plus the part I baasedbit off fit not great.

              So I did it again.

I think the Ranch manager should fire your ass for taking 2 extra days to finish a one day project.

So Saturday I went to change a spindle on one of the zero turns.

I found this different between the spindle we had and the one we got.

I worked with my parts guy at Bestline to try and figure out wtf happened, what part we got and why is it wrong? Maybe just a bad part.. it happens.

We have hours into trying to solve this. Different deck than we normally have but the part number for the spindle is the same between the decks, mess up at Kubota parts catalog maybe?? Strange.
He called me again this morning and was asking for more info so he could get on with their tech support to figure this out.

So I pull the old one apart and I see that the ten mill I'm missing up top on the hex is the gap between the shelf and housing on bottom.. weird.
Throw her in the vise and "persuade" her a little.mmmhmm.
                              IMG_20210927_125002.jpg

The part was fine. An hour job turned into a whole big thing...

                              Can't believe I did that.
