  • Answers to common Hawk questions

I'm hoping to cut down on the number of emails asking common questions, so here are some common answers.

    - No, you can't do that.
    - Leave the fittings open.
    - Yes, but be careful.
    - No you don't need 185 main jets. Sigh.
    - I have never in the history of Hawks seen that happen. It's something else.
    - You lost me at cafe conversion.
    - Talk to Honda. I didn't make the engine, they did.
    - Penske 8975DL and Gold Valves/springs.
    - Buy a nice used FZ-07.
    - You don't need that much brake on a Hawk. I raced with less than that.
    - Compression, fuel and spark. Gotta have them all.
    - Bad harness ground. Check the rear brake reservoir. Yes. The rear brake reservoir. Just trust me.
    - Discontinued.

I'm curious as to number 3.

I've done many things to hawks, and with the exception of paint work, I've done none of them carefully. I'm curious as to what sins I've committed.

You have to provide your own context to the answers, that way I am amused.

Like those damned songwriters who won't tell you want the song is about because "what matters is what it means to the listener."
