  • Police Evader Hawk: Thought Experiment..

Don't be scared... but the thought came into my mind today after J.D. mentioned "long track" cams and then watching Bikes Vs. Cops on instagram.

If one where to attempt to run from the police on a hawk, could one be built to have a decent chance of success?

And I'm not talking about taking the race hawk for a rip around town. Like a real deal pursuit and evade felony style..

Like down town Boston to the NH border lets say.

The bike would have to be able to outrun a charger by a decent bit whilest still having the low end pull to accel out of a parking lot with a quickness and launch from a dead stop.

Need enough tire on it to get the bitch into the woods or up the bank of a bridge road crossing on the highway while still being able to handle well enough on the road to get a knee down on an exit ramp. Deff needs to be able to jump a median, or cross a grass ravine.

Could a hawk handle a 30hp shot of nitrous oxide for 15-20 seconds at a time ? That would help..

My initial thought is no, but I do wonder. nt650hawk what was your top speed at Daytona?

why not have the mad max style switched supercharger????(it was the last of the police interceptors after all) Im thinking you would need an overdrive gear

Good thoughts. The room that may take if it's under the tank may limit your gas for the run. But the cool effect would be priceless.

Following my recent impact with a car, I found the weak link in the Hawk system appears to be the cast aluminum steerer tube. So while it's a fun exercise in building the ultimate 'get away' machine, I think serious off-roading (jumping a median) with the Hawk would be better served by a steel framed bike...

But don't let me stop the fun, carry on!

Bike builds can be and most time are art and expression. To take something mass produced and impersonal and make something personal that you can't stop staring at as you walk away. So with a little more gearing and a shot of nos 170 isn't out of the question in quick bursts.. I mean, that drops a charger in a mile...

This is basically the worst plan ever. It is hard to imagine a worse option that doesn’t have bags or the word Davidson in the name.

While 150hp superbikes have done the feat, especially in rural areas, I have one word for you: Supermoto. One set of stairs, a footbridge or a tree stand with a trail and you’re gone.

I will have to agree with riot on this one... better to build a "Balls to the Wall" supermoto with suspension travel and a knack for the unexpected (turn into a forest or building) ability. Imaging riding into a mall and down an escalator such as in a James Bond movie.

Well yeah... Its a horrible choice. . Thats the point.

Motard, yup. any dirtbike in a town where you know the trails well can get away. ask any kid that grew up riding dirt bikes in a semi rural town with a good trail system. a 13 year old on a cr125 can get away pretty easy. . liter bike sure. 105 hp 600 sport bike. yup (even on the highway for long stretches' ((helicopter counties are mostly exempt from that claim)). a hawk??

Could you do it on a hawk with any chance of success?

Would your best chance be to abandon top speed and build an endure hawk, dirtbike hawk, fake-tard? Maybe.. Interesting thought my friend. But they are heavy...

But using a dirtbike is cheating.

Hawk and a crown vic have about the same top end. I'm on probation until next July for helping to prove the theory that a vic can NOT evade the police. But they are big.. Hawks are small and accell faster.
