  • "Vintage" Pictures Anyone?

Any of y'all have bike or hawk pics from the past you want to share? I was digging through some old piston pit photos and realized that was close to 15 years ago. Looking at those bikes, boy have Hawks changed in that time.

I'm sure many people would love to see some of our members older bike (or even car) related photos.

I'll try and dig out a few that I haven't posted a million times as well.

This is all early to mid 00's.

I've got some great snow ride pics too somewhere. But I've got a couple for now...

Beer run. I had to be just 21, maybe 22, here.

      Beer Run.jpg

And this is my buddy Scot, with his long hair wound up in the grinder. That's "Bones", one of the old school mechanics at the Honda shop standing next to him.

      Scot_Grind.jpg
I heard a "WOMP" and then the sound of an electric motor when it has been "stopped". I ran over, hit the switch and asked if he was ok. "Yeah". I said, "hold on" and I ran for the camera as he was yelling "Nooooooo!!!". By the time I got back he had a smoke going. He had so much thick hair it didn't pull out of his head. We had to cut just a little at the end to get him out.
"I couldn't afford NOT to buy it!"

Still have that helmet... on the "retired" shelf in the shop.

Real Spencer signature on it too, along with the repro it came with.

Here's another lousy picture from the 1980s. My dirt riding gear in the Tillamook Forest was rugby jersey and rubber rain gear. My terrible ride was a GreeSA, a BSA 441 Victor single in a Greeves Challenger frame. It was slow, crude, but indestructible. Yes, we wore open faced helmets, usually with a snap on bill and Jofa-style face guard added to keep limbs out of your face. My buddy Pete is riding a Yamaha YZ250, which was not much better because its explosive power was not good in the mud.

Back in 1992, when I thought I was cool.
                    That's my first bike - a 1975 CB400F.

My best friend's uncle had passed away and left behind this bike, which had been sitting for 10+ years in a garage.
I got the bike, the helmet (priceless!), and a massive steel snake lock, all for $50.

Maybe my friend's dad wanted me dead. I can't imagine selling even a well-functioning motorcycle to my kids' friends, never mind a motorcycle that was in dire need of repair. I would live in constant fear of hearing that they crashed and were in critical condition in a hospital.

My H1 500 triple cafe I bought brand new for 999.00. Year 1972/3 (don't remember). Yep, riding gear included bellbottoms. The day after this was taken, I rode it to San Francisco to a biker friends apartment and the next day we went over to Mill Valley and we rode the famous Sunday Morning Ride over to Point Reyes. I think there were about 75 riders that Sunday.

Great photo! This was before my time. However, I just learned the history on the H1, you must have been the man on that ride (bellbottoms and all).
