JULY 2018 "RACE BIKE OF THE MONTH" VOTING

We are gonna get this HOTM back on track. With my dealings with the kidney stones and lack of entries for the race bike of the month, we are going to use the 2 entries from June and use the whole month of July to vote for the race hawk of the month. Voting will end on August 1, 2018.

We will resume regular HOTM nominations in August.

      LORENZO

The first photo has the old exhaust on it, the Arrow is the current one. First photo outside my garage, second photo is setting up in the garage at Jerez for 3 days of track stupidity with friends last winter, the third photo is Oulton Park last summer, the final one is from earlier this month around Anglesey.
Full spec list is a recently rebuilt engine, cam gear slotted so that it can be timed properly but otherwise stock engine. Akrapovic headers, stock link pipe, Arrow can. Mapped on a dyno with 118hp at the wheel, 500rpm taken off the rev limit for safety (my first one of these went pop in a bit of a catastrophic way). TSS slipper clutch. Ohlins RSU rear shock, resprung & valved for my weight. Front forks also resprung & valved by Maxton. Ricambi Weiss fairing with cheapo ebay Martini stickers. GB Moto engine cases and R&G bungs.

I'm not a fast rider by any means but in this bike I've found my own personal nirvana, I'm not riding around any particular idiosyncrasies of the bike, the only limitation is the me, which is good as I'm limited enough...

The exhaust can sticking out from the tail section.I hate undertail exhausts. No reason for it.It was a styling fad that tends to give you a hot ass.Just put your fingertip over the can in the picture.....right?Silly styling.

Made a lot of sense on the GP bikes that separate headers for rear cylinders (V4's, reverse cylinder 125's), alittle sense on the V4 Honda NR, made an icon out of the 916 but all have a rear cylinder to deal with. Made no sense on the I4 & triples in the 2000's. Pure styling adding a lot more exhaust plumbing, weight, and heat than necessary.

All the same, I'm for Lorenzo on this one. Triumph Daytonians slumming on a Hawk forum have to stick together.
