I know it's a common mod on dirtbikes and quads to make them rev quicker, but has anybody tried it on a Hawk? Results?

For the street I personally would not advise it.

It has been out for three years racing. It has been a while since it did this. Yes it will free up the rational weight thus not expelling any HP to do so. It is almost mandatory for all HAWK racers at Louden. Scott is the latest victim. He will find out the benefit this season. It is easy to do. Take the flywheel off and drill out the rivets the secure the magnet. You are done. Now your bike does not have a charging system. ALSO Watch out trying to set your timing, you will not have the timing marks to match up with. Unless you have a degree wheel.
I dynoed the stock motor with the lightened fly with jetting and pipe 55hp. I know not all dyno's are the same and not operated the same but it gave me a good reference. I was hoping to be in the 50'sGino

I was not planning on trying it on my bike because it is a street bike and I know that the dirtbikes I have ridden with the mod SUCK on trails because they tend to stall VERY easy. I would liken that to slow in-town traffic on a street bike.

If you are curious about a lightened flywheel all you need to do is remove the drift pin and remover the ENTIRE flywheel. If you do not like the effect it has on the motor's performance you can always replace it.
It is true that without the flywheel effect the motor will accelerate (spin up) quicker however it will also decelerate quicker. In physics you always pay a price. That will have negative effects that really bother some riders mid corner. Ducati tested many different cranks in the 998 bikes trying to find the ideal flywheel weight in the end every test rider (Bayliss included) prefered the stock weight crank because of its ability to carry engine momentum mid corner.
