    Vapor gauge issues....

Ok, I have everything hooked up and running great! The speed pick-up is good, the power is hooked up fine (temporary hook up), RPM's are reading ok with the exception of it jumping around alittle, But my temp sensor isn't reading at all. I hooked it up by replacing the stock temp sending unit with the one in the vapor kit, it screwed right in and plugs directly into the gauge unit. At first I thought that maybe it wasn't getting hot enough to read, so I let it idle for a long time knowing the fan will kick on automaticly if it does get too hot, and it did, still with no read out on the gauge. Am I missing something obvious? Hord, have you got any ideas?

Just to be sure, here is a pic of where I put it (hopefully I put it in the right place, I sure would feel dumb)

It won't read until it gets to 100F but it sounds like you met that condition. Did you page thru the button menu to engine temp? I think default is air temp.

yeah, I looked through all three pages/modes, but still nothing. The air temp was working. I read the manual last night before bed and it say to hit the reset button after hooking it up, which I have not done yet. So tonite after work I will try that and let it warm up to see if it works.

By the way, what is a good operating temp for a hawk, like what should I set the warning temp and danger temp indicators to?

Let me know how it goes. Trailtech.net (the Vapor importer/distributor) is out your way, I have called them a couple times and they have been very helpful.

I only use Celcius because my brain just can't do F. I set the yellow to come on at 95C and red at 105C.

Well I must admit that it is amazing what you can do when you read the instructions. All I had to do was hit the reset button after I hook everything up.....just like it says in the manual.

ok, so here are my issues with the vapor.
I have F3 front fork: can someone pls tell me what is the best way to set up the speed sensor and magnet??? can i drill a bigger hole in the disk or it will crack?

For the RPM, it's connected to the front coil and grounded. But the RPM is very unstable and maxed out....even when on 0.5/1.0/2.0 PPR it even reached 12000RPM when on idle???

There are two other Vapor topics further down in Mech & Tech

                  Vapor digi dash (PPR)
                  and Vapor wiring
                  They might help you out.
I have my sensor and magnet connected to the rear wheel.

What kind of max temps have you guys read on the Vapor?? I have mind set around the same ranges above. Mine has maxed out at 219 F (thats 104 C for ya JD). I have seen as low as 185 when around 65 mph.

Do this sound like acceptable temps?

I find the fan kicks on around 101C... I think I've hit about 104 too... I've got the yellow on at 100 and the red at 110
