    Handle bar question?

i purchased after market clip ons that fit perfectly. The only problem I have now is that both left and right hand side switches (starter and turn signal)have just enough lose to slide off. There is no toggle, but they don't stay in place even if they re tightly screwed.
I taught of maybe using heavy duty silicone??? I can't pass a screw from the bottom cuz it will touch the plastic throttle pipe

    Any other ideas?
    thanks

Are you using the stock controls? If so there should be a pin in the controls to hold them in place.

yeah that one caught me off guard as well after having ridden bmws for years.

the stock controls have a pin or knob that sticks out and you have to drill a hole in the clip ons to accomodate that knob or they cannot be locked in place.

it's a good system but a tricky one if you are unaware. good luck.

i didn't see any pins. I' gonna try using some .002shims , roll it around a couple of times then attach the switches. will let you guys know how it goes.

if for some reason, someone broke off the pins, you can wrap electrical tape around the bar, then it can pinch onto the larger bar/tape....

i used to put electrical tape under the brake levers of my bicycle and dirtbike so that when i wrecked it, the levers would turn, instead of snapping...

On my other halfs 400 bros the pins were snapped off, i drilled them out and epoxyed some new ones in. A much better fix than tape or shims?

            cheers

Yeah I just changed my bars and on the back side of each control unit there is a nub or pin that needs to be counter sunk into the bar and locks it in place.

I placed the controls on and took a awl and scratched where I need to drill then vised them and drilled um out.
