Break my foot, or shift into neutral?

I have had my hawk for almost two years, and have had an issue, from time to time, shifting from 1st to neutral when i am stopped. The problem just seemed to be getting worse. I was not 100% sure what was causing it, or more importantly what to do. I have called around and i have got gears to shifting fork. Before i go digging i would like to know what to look for. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

FWIW,both of my Hawks are major pains to get into neutral when stopped.I just deal with this by snicking it into neutral when slowing to park.

Thanks for your responses guys. Is that a common issue with the hawks, hard to get to neutral, if it is i really wont worry. I just dont want to end up 500 miles away and have my transmission locked in 2nd gear.

Yep, mine does that also. I just downshift while slowing and get into neutral befor I stop. But, if this is a fixable problem I'll be watching this thread to get mine fixed as well.

I have noticed that my gearbox is much stiffer when its really cold outside, and as for neutral, I usually have to snick between first and second a time or two before I get the green light.

You can also try rocking the bike forward and backward to find neutral. That was a trick they tought us at the Motorcycle Class. But the bigger lesson they toaught us was to find neutral before we came to a stop because it is much easier to do while the bike is rolling.

When you are stopped, just keep clicking the shifter down, like you are trying to go to first. then let the clutch out very slightly until you feel it click, pull the clutch in and shift down again, that will put it in first so you can click up a half click to find nuetral.

My bike sometimes wont let me click all the way to first when I come to a stop, for some reason it will only go down to second, until I let the clutch out a bit (maybe to release pressure?) then it will allow me to shift to first. And I always shift to first before neutral.

Also what Paullyboy said, if you down shift all the way to first before you even come to a stop, it makes it alot easier. You don't have to go through the whole "letting the clutch out" thing. And remember, on the Hawk, it's just a slight HALF click to get it into neutral, at least my Hawk is very touchy trying to get it into neutral. Hope this helps

Thanks guys. I don't have a problem rough'in it, but if it is a fairly inexpensive fix I would def look into that. I really like the silky smooth feeling. How much did that job cost? In the manual it says that hard shifting could be due to a bent/badly lubricated shift fork or shifting rod. I recently saw a hawk tranny internals on eBay that i regret not picking up, but if any one has a part hawk or good tranny internals they wouldn't mind parting with please let me know.

                            Thank you

With my Deauville (similar gearbox) they all suffer from "false neutral"
ie the green light comes on but when you relese the clutch lever the bike jumps forward.
