    Factory 3 and unipods reliability!

I'm installing a factory 3 kit and unipods this month as soon as receive my order from hords website. In May I'll be doing a 400km each way trip to tokyo with another 400km of excursions to the twisties. It would be inconvinient to say the least to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with problems.

What kind of reliability have you guys been getting and what kind of mileage have you guys been doing? Any running or starting problems that I should know about.

    Thanks.

I have no idea as such (yet) Rory.
Should be fitting my 2Bros exhaust and the jet kit and pods etc. later this week.
I'll let you know how it feels.. and if I get it on the road any mileage figures.

      Hope this helps:
I've got a 700cc piston kit with Megacycle 153 cams. Big intakes, pod filters and #45 slow jets and #160 mains. Ported intakes too. (JD's)
-No reliability issues whatsoever. -Just stronger and louder. I get close to 50mi / gallon (4.7L/100km) Most of my riding is highway, and im not super aggressive.
Throw in your kit, get it tuned in, and have fun on your trip.
-I'm sorry....I did not know she was your sister.
-If Buckleys cold mixture went rancid......how would anybody know????
-Dont piss off the quiet guy with the chain saw.

My only thought would be your exhaust. If you still have the stock system, a factory kit may be a bit much ((shrug)).

I have had a Factory 3 kit with K&N pods and Supertrapp exhaust for almost 10 years with no problems at all. In fact cold starting is much better with no surging.

You may have to set (re-set) your mixture screws..... check the FAQ on hawkgt.com. Big help can be found there.

Thanks for the replies. Good to hear your not getting any problems. I've already got a moriwaki exhaust system on hence the factory 3 and unipods.

I installed a factory 3 kit this winter with pods and my stock exhaust. no problems as of yet but the weather has not been good for any lengthy rides. A definite improvement in power across the board (thanks to Hord). The exhaust I will put on next winters list.

For those that are worried about the reliability of such things: one of my Hawks currently has 40k+ miles on an all stock bottom end,+3 Wisecos,Megacycle 153's,mild porting and the carbs have been changed a few times from RC30 internal kit thing that TBR used to sell and the tried and true Stage III/Uni pods from 2 sets*...at some point it had K&N's on it but it hasn't had an airbox since I dunno,1992? The motor has a little over 65k on it in total, including 4-5 trips from here to GA/NC- ~2500-3000 miles round trip.

You _may_ have some mechanical problem as well,it is a machine but if installed properly, you should have nothing at all to worry.

              * nothing actually wrong- I promised to jet someone's Hawk for them but my slackassed self didn't so I ended up just throwing my carbs on his and rejetting his fer mines...
