    Clattering clutch

When I pull the clutch lever in on my Bros, there is a rattling noise that
disappears when a gear is engaged. The noise is louder when the motor
is cold, but the clutch and gearbox work ok...

Is this an impending problem, and is there any way of stopping it...

    Thanks for any help

my bros 400 has done the same thing for the year Ive owned it. I asked the same question here also, basically the replies were "ride it". (Search the forum for the thread)

My clutch slips SOMETIMES when I use the the "passing gear" (one for you Doc :P )/ gas it on in top gear.

I suppose the slippage is a sign that the right cover coming off in the future but I'm not worried about it now as it is very seldom that slips.

the holy one "JDHORD" maybe able to shed some light on this if he sees the post

How many km on those plates?
-Might just be worn out clutch plates. Get a new gasket, and pop the cover off for a look. Wont even need to drain the oil if you lean it way over on the left onto something soft. Also look for chewed basket grooves, broken spring, or toasted cam bearing. Let us know what you find out, it may help the next person in the same situation.
-I'm sorry....I did not know she was your sister.
-If Buckleys cold mixture went rancid......how would anybody know????
-Dont piss off the quiet guy with the chain saw.

The clutch basket has cush springs built into it, to take away some of the driveline herky-jerk. After a while the springs get a little slack and things start to wobble around with the clutch pulled in. It's really no big deal, just annoying.

That is what I hoped to hear, thanks!

The bike has 45000km on it and about 9 previous owners, so the gearbox may have taken a little stick over the years.

Next plan is to try and get a bit more power - I was going to stick a 650 in it, but I'm intrigued by the idea of
getting the most out of the 400 with rejetting and individual filters maybe...
