    Starting after carb rebuild?

I just got finished installing a factory 3 jet kit and uni pods. Settings are as to J.D.'s advice. Is their a starting procedure I should be going through or can I simply put it all back together and use a bit of choke to start it. As of now it's not starting in any form. I bled one of the float chambers to make sure there was gas in it and I got a short stream of gas.

Any help to get me running again would be appreciated.

    Thanks

The float bowls will be dry after the jet kit install, it takes a bit of cranking to fill them up again.

Just put a FactoryPro kit 3 in mine from JD. Took a bit of cranking like what JD said but soon fired up.
You could short out the pump relay under the seat so the pump, pumps
as soon as you turn on ignition. This will get the bowls filled.

What jet setting did you install? The instructions recommend #45's idle/pilot but the bike starts first time without any choke. Therefore will take JD's advice and fit #42's

Just a quick note is your Kill switch on?

If not take out the easiest spark plug and hold it with some insulated pliers
etc against the engine frame and turn the bike over to see if you are getting a spark

        Got the bike started!

Thanks for the advice above. For anyone in the same boat.

Don't expect the bike to start on first charge (it took me three)

It was cold when I was doing it so I used full choke and did 15 second bursts with the starter followed by one smoke break or 3 minutes 47 seconds to all yee non smokers.

BTW : I was worried about how loud the unipods would be. For anyone else concerned, don't be, it makes minimal difference at idle and light throttle and sounds wicked aggressive when you give the throttle a blip.

          Starting after a carb rebuild

I just finished my second rebuild and got the bike started on the first push of the starter button.

For anyone in my previous position, heres the simple procedure. (Simple to most of you I know but it wasn`t to me as I was impatient and seemingly flooding the carbs and needing 3 battery charges to get started.

turn pet cock on and let carb bowls fill for a few minutes

use no choke at first and press the starter for a few seconds

Then gradually pull the choke on to find the starting sweet spot.

** Don`t get impatient and just start lashing on full choke or blipping the accelerator**

If anyone would like to improve on that, please do as it`s the simple kind of advice that I often find myself searching through the forum for.

Did you connect your tank directly to your Carbs? as I'm not sure this will
            happen

My carbs seemed to fill up fine with the standard connection. I didn't find it necessary but if I have trouble in the future I think i will probably start directly shortcut the tank to th carbs.

              Thanks for the advice.

I've got in the habit of dripping a SMALL amount of fuel directly into the carb mouths before refitting the air filters if I've done any work on them that involved taking the float bowls off. The bike fires immediately.
