    handlebar buzzing

I recently switched from my factory handlebars to some woodcrafts. I did not take the weights or barends from the factory bar. I also switched to some new michelin pilots, M4 exhaust/ Factory jet kit... long story short, it has been a few months since i have ridden my bike and after a 200 miles ride yesterday, i noticed more vibration in the bars than i remember there was before. Is this from not using the weights or something else?

well, if theres something wrong with the bike, obviously i cant tell ya....

but yea, there is a little more "buzz" to the bars when you take the weights out.... i have some small bar end weights, and while you would think they do nothing, i can feel the diff.... but really the heavy OEM ones work best.

There's nothing wrong with the bike as far as I know. I think it really is the difference in weight and thickness between the old and new bars. It's a real high frequency vibration that kinda gets on my nerves after 50 miles but doesn't feel like something is technically wrong. The old heavy ones definitely felt smoother. Crazy what a difference it makes.
Is there anything I can put inside the bar, like spray foam...anything to help? I have some bar ends on the way but they are not very heavy...more cosmetic. The price we pay to look cool jk

I forgot to ask - were you going to make it to Myrtle Beach bike week next weekend? I will be in your neck of the woods next friday. It'd be cool to see another hawk.

An old trick that works and is cheap when it comes to bar buzz is to insert some surgical latex tubing in the handle bars. Use 1/4 or 3/16" tubing and install it so that you have two pieces of tubing running inside the bars. I usually use on piece that is twice as long as the bar and fold it in half and push it into the bars with a long flatblade screw driver.

It might not make all of the buzz go away but it will help.

The tubing is tghe same stuff you use on a wrist-rocket type sling shot, they use it on spear guns and you can go to your local shotting alley and get it from a passed out IV drug user.

As for Myrtle Beach??? Why would anyone want to go there?

naaa, i wont be up at myrtle.. i cant even ride this weekend, my thermostat broke, and while the bike was that far apart, i started messing with it some more... checked the valves lastnight... been a few thousand miles since i checked them... intakes are still dead on.. one exhaust valve was dead on.. the rear one needed to go a tick inward... im amazed at lack of valve wear.. lol

              spray foam will work
i hear the racers use that to keep vibration and weight down at the same time.

My bike has standard bars with bar-end weights, and I get a vibration in the right side at about 4-5k rpm but otherwise, not much.
