    M4 Header clearance questions?

Couple quick ?'s about the M4 header.....

    1. It routes directly under the oil pan , correct?

    2. How much does it stick out from either side?

these a crucial issues with my setup , i am going to by an M4 header to reduce my fabrication time...and plus its a whole lot better than the stock header...but clearance issues could make it not usable on my application....so basically , anyone with this system could measure the distance fro mthe highest point of their case covers to the farthest point the header sticks out from there should let me know the measument i need , thanks in advance...also the distance it drops down fro mthe oil pan would be awesome as well

Could you throw up a quick MS paint pic of what you want measured?

I'm kinda dumb but do you need to know the width- how far how the headers stick out for clearance to fairing fit? I just stepped out with a ruler and the outer edge of the header is 2.25" from the front engine mount spar ( end of ruler directly above weld) or about .5" from the nubbin on the center of the clutch cover-uh,that's me measuring with a plastic ruler and eyeballing right angles. That's probably entirely useless info but show me exactly where you want measured and I'll do it.

thanks...looks like you see where i am getting at

        here is a pic

basically need to know how wide it will be, and how low the header will hang from the oil pan

The top measurement as best as I can make with a digital caliper is about 4.81 in or 122mm. This is about level with the lower front engine mount. The measurement is from the outside of the pipe to the highest point on the cover.

The lower measurement couldn't be made with my caliper due to clearance issues on the caliper. I used a ruler. From the collector joint, 3 inches. The lowest point is a bit farther back, around the end of the spring. That's about 3.25 inches.

          I hope this helps.

damn...so the things sticks out almost 5 inches from the bike....wow...i did not realize that...looks like with that measurment its not going to clear my fairings

I don't have any measurements, but the M4 headers definitely aren't as block hugging as the stockers.

I'll see if i can get some pics... but it probably won't be until friday. Hopefully someone will be quicker than me.

Hey TJ, email me your number and I'll give you a call today (anytime/ my dime-er quarter? heh, it's free for me actually) if you like. mgutknecht1 at comcast.net Very light day for work here for me.

I'll snap some pics at different angles for you as well if it'll help.

I'm also going on the assumption that the header pipe(s) are the same for the low mount vs high mount.
