    Chain & sprocket instalation

I have a 16 front and a 46 back. Is there a way or figuring out how long the chain should be? What is the standard torque the sprockets should be tightened to? Any things to look out for while installing? This is my first time installing and i dont want to make any careless errors.

    Thank you

If you go to one of those parts warehouse websites like Bike Bandit and enter all the info for your bike, and which sprockets you want to use, it'll usually recommend the correct chain length... That's been my experience anyway.
my other 650 is an XS

i have always run the chain thru, remembering the slack and noting the adjuster location... then where the chain overlaps, you can see where to cut it.

i guess thats the eyeballing method... lol.

Get the 120 link chain. Stock Hawk is 112. With your bigger sprocket I am guessing 115 but MEASURE.

A 46 rear is BIG. My Race bike has the 45, stock is 44??? (I think).

Someone correct me if I am wrong here.

Torque on the sprocket bolts is 29 ft/lbs (I am guessing) but it is in the manual that we have a PDF of here on the forum.

I'm guessing your using a 525 chain and not a 520? just incase you get the wrong chain

          A 520 chain has a pitch of 5/8" (15.88mm) and a roller width of 2.0/8" = 1/4" (6.35mm)
          A 525 chain has a pitch of 5/8" (15.88mm) and a roller width of 2.5/8" (7.94mm

Yeah, i bought a 520 conversion and yes the stock rear is 42 from what i understand. I wanted to fool around with the bigger rear for a faster 0-60. Not really worried about the top end as much. But if this was a stupid idea dont be afraid to let me know.

              Thank you
