    filter or pods?

So I have just impulse bought a stage 1 & 2 Dynojet kit for my hawk, and I'm looking for advice on air filter mods. My stock filter is ancient, filthy and needs to be replaced anyway so the question becomes:

Do I buy a K&N filter that fits in the stock airbox, or ditch it and go with the K&N pods. The jet sizes available in my kit are 136, 140, 144. Both filter options are about the same price ~$80 on ebay (is that an OK price?).

Also, what about physically modifying the airbox itself if I go with the non-pod filter?

I am running the stock exhaust for the time being, until I can scrape up enough cash for a fancy one, or find a cheap used replacement (anyone cleaning out their garage?), however I am considering doing the "remove baffle and drill" rountine I've read about elsewhere on the forum until then.

please teach me, oh wise ones...

I have the K&N filter in the stock airbox but like JD Hord says it doesn't seal worth a crap. UNI Pods are cheaper than the K&N pods at ~$25 US. (for a set of 2)

Don't know if there's a good source for them in europe though.

I have found out that a lot of dirt comes in under the KN filter because it dosent seal properly to the undertail of the airfilterbox. Dont use it.

Hord also did a lot of dyno testing and the Uni filters are much better power than any version of K&N filters on the hawks..

cheaper and better and easier to clean. what's not to like about that???
