If using the stock Hawk parts, it can only be assembled one way. The brake caliper bolts hit the aluminum carrier and swingarm if you try to rotate the brake caliper "down".
As for position of the eccentric, (spindle mounting bore) I think it is at 12'oclock if looking at the swinarm side. I seem to recall people trying to swing it down CW to the 6'oclock position to compensate for the longer CBR900 shock. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

      Edited to correct myself.

If I understand correctly, A, or towards C would be the correct answers. You can flip it to B if you do some minor modification (flush screw on brake caliper holder and some drilling) The problem with B is that it causes the chain to ride on the slider ALOT. Would wear it down fast. I was going to try B but after seeing how much the chain would rub decided it wasn't worth it.
          I hope this helps.

it rocks around the "A" area in that pic.

note that when you have it, the area for the brake caliper part is facing "up" so that you can fit both the caliper and have the bar bolt to that top part of the swingarm

                TJ,
in your diagrams, "A" is the closest to the stock set up. As mentioned above, the caliper mounting bolts foul the swingarm if you try to swing it to B. That is, unless you do some modification to avoid this.

i agree it should be between a and c depending on the chain

i was thinking about putting it in the b location but the chain rests on the swingarm to much as is it and i thought it would compound the problem.
