    Brake Pads...

Anyone know someone who keeps brake pads in stock for front stock Hawk disk brakes? I keep running into weeks and weeks of back order time even from my local Honda shop (which lists them as two individual part #'s which cost $4o+). Any help would be appreciated.

Pattern pads will do surely? In the U.K. we're mostly using EBCs I think. OE pads, last time I checked, were prohibitively expensive (like twice as much) and hard to get hold of as you say.

Tell me you haven't tried http://www.hordpower.com or http://store.azmusa.com/hawker.html yet?

In case you didn't already know, both are Hawk specialists and big supporters of the Hawk community.

If they are both out of stock (not likely) and you're in a hurry, fleabay usually have pads, search for "honda hawk gt 650" and tick the box to include "all items including store inventory items" I should clarify, fleabay usually have pattern pads, not oem.

      Welcome aboard by the way,

      Eric

Awesome.. thanks... actually, I'm a big dummy and was thinking Hord was a specialty place like Woodcraft, where they spec. in machined products, etc.... didn't have the other one, though, thanks a bunch....

Now another question.... so what are people using out there for this bike? I'm a pretty big dude (about 275lbs) and some extra stopping power by means of best quality brake pads wouldn't hurt. The ones I have on (back)order and am waiting for are Vesrah Sintered pads. Looking at Hord and azmusa, it looks like my choices are EBC and SBS with subvarieties like kevlar, sintered, and I've also seen organic. Are there any out there that are better than others and/or any I should stay away from? They all seem to range from $27 to $33 so price doesn't really matter.... Thanks again!

Well, it's not mine, but here's a post from a few years ago.

          So, the conclusion is....

The Newfren are insufficient and very short life, terrible (my test and
          friends)

SBS are scratching the disk badly and are insufficient

Vesrah (red) are good (my test).
Vesrah green-ones - complete bollocks ,useless

Ferrodo Supersport - reasonable power and loads of 'feel' and RiDE
recommended at the time. (for commuting).

EBC 'HH' lots of power when warmed up - but lots of disc ware too, not as
good as the Ferrodo Supersport in the feel dept.
EBC HHs, scarily vauge when cold. Pretty unbeatable when hot though.
EBC 'HH' response and predictability. Nice and smooth, even under hard
braking. They work well with the EBC Prolite(?) disk

          Carbone Lorraine with EBC Pro-Lite

          *ordinary* EBCs are OK.
Don't like EBC 'kevlar' (green) ones - to vague.

          DP pads they work fine.

Oem pads are the best overall
          OEM with Honda discs, always.

I will go for the organic EBC (not sure for the color, I hope not green)
Honda OEM (depending on price) or for the Ferodo (I know where to find
them). I will send feedback later
BTW if you 've read this article please tell me if you agree with the
          suggesting pads break-in method.

          Thanks
          John
Don't know how much that helps, but you might be able to eliminate some choices with this?
