    Carb air shut off alignment.

I'm rebuilding the carb on an 88. The air cut off valve diaphragm has a little bump on it, but the manual has no reference to it for aligning the bump when putting it together(like it does for the carb piston diaphragm). Does the orientation of the diaphrgm matter in the cut-off assembly???

    Thnx in advance

AFAIK, there is no specific orientation of the air cutoff diaphrams. I have the carbs apart on my 88 right now (again) and went out and double checked the air cut-off diaphrams. I can't see any markings or bumps on the ones I have. Do both of yours have bumps in the same place? I could take some pics of mine if that helps.

      Salty,

Both have them. I'll assume its just a deformity from years of use that aligns with the raised canal in the cover. Thanks for the reply.
