knocking clutch

My other halfs bros 400 has developed a bad knocking coming from the clutch. Its not allways there!, but if you pull the lever in it changes pitch and putting it in gear makes it dissapear. anyone have an idea before i pull it to bits? its not the usuall clatter but a definate knock!

phew, Thats a relief, I thought my clutch was on the way out as my 400 does the clatter thing also (until the clutch is engaged and a gear selected or bike is warmed up).

As for a knock, not sure on that one robs, but sure would be interested in the outcome.
